University of Botswana, Gaborone, 6 September 2024 – The atmosphere was electric at the University of Botswana on September 6th as the Fast-Break Friday (FBF)
2024-2025 Campus Basketball League kicked off with an exhilarating draft night event. This highly anticipated evening marked the official launch of the new season, bringing together athletes, fans, and community members for a night of high-energy entertainment and basketball fervor.
The draft night featured the exciting selection of players into five men’s and three ladies’ teams, each set to bring their A-game to the courts this season. With around 15 players per team, the draft was a showcase of talent and potential, setting the stage for a thrilling season ahead.
Highlights from the Evening:
Team Captain Introductions: The event began with the introduction of team captains, each bringing unique flair and leadership to their respective teams. Captains shared their enthusiasm for the upcoming season and their strategies for leading their teams to victory.
First draft pick: The FIRST draft pick for #FBF25 is none other than John Scott who went to the Black Rebels. Red Raptors selected Tlotlo Tshekere, and the Yello Ranglers picked Karabo Desmond. Midnight Rouges choose Kopelo as the first pick for the ladies, while Nsagwa Lolo was selected by Ruby Rascals, and Botho Modutlwe, last season MVP and Queen of the Court, went to the Cobalt Renegades.
Interactive Engagement: Attendees were invited to participate in interactive moments, including a raffle where two members of the live audience win an exclusive limited edition FBF sports shirt, further enhancing the festive spirit of the night.
The FBF25 season is set to offer an array of thrilling basketball matches, featuring high-stakes games and engaging community events. With games scheduled to begin on the first Friday of September and running through the season, fans can look forward to a showcase of exceptional athletic talent and team spirit.
